With Quickteller, Interswitch has kicked off a programme to help website owners and bloggers to monetize their websites a bit better in a Nigerian way. Without them leaving your webiste. Without writing a single line of code. Without going through long negotiations with any telcom industry. Without worrying about payment gateway integration. Every month, Interswitch will pay you a 2.5% commission for all airtime sold via your website.

How Do you monetize your technology blog in Nigeria?

- Vistors see a widget with buttons by InterSwitch on your blog.

- When s/he clicks any of the buttons, a pop up window will appear on your website. (If the user is on a mobile device, the browser will redirect to a mobile friendly page instead).

- S/he would provide details of the number s/he wants to top-up and her/his email address (for email receipt), and then click ‘next’. S/He’d then see the familiar WebPAY card input page, where s/he can enter his card details to complete his top-up.

How Do You get Paid

Every month, InterSwitch would send you a report summarizing all transactions done via your website or blog. It would show sum total of transactions and some analytics of success rates. The report would also show commission due to you. You would then send interswitch an invoice of your expected commission and they would credit your bank account within 72 hours of receiving the invoice.

If you like this, then you need to sign up immediately. You will need to send an email to the Quickteller team via quickteller[at]interswitchng[dot]com stating your interest and your website or blog address. Someone will contact you within 72 hours. I think Quickteller has not implemented that. When it’s done, i’ll write about it

Its a good thing and i have installed the widget on my site already. I got over 32 clicks on the first day and i have been getting hits since then. but what am not sure of is whether those hits are actually transactions completed or just clicks. Also, waiting for them to send transaction notification to bloggers monthly is too far, we might need those reports early in order to push the idea more on social media platforms once we know we are getting enough hits.

Good to know that you are making use of this already. I think Monthly transaction notifications is still preferable for now. The best would have been that you have an account where you can monitor your transactions. I’m hoping InterSwitch will improve on this.

Great development there on interswitch. Do they pay according to the number of transaction made or according to the monthly page views?

They pay according to the number of transaction made via your site.
