The Nigerian Internet Entrepreneur Spotlight 4: Desmond Ufuoma Okosi

Welcome here. This is an interview with Desmond Ufuoma Okosi. This is the fourth in our Nigerian Internet Entreprenuer Spotlight series. The first spotlight was on Dayo Edunjobi. The second spotlight was on Adebola Oni. The third spotlight was on Babajide Ogunsanya. And this is the fourth. Go through it and wait for the fifth.

MMON: Please tell us a little about yourself.

Desmond Ufuoma OkosiDesmond: In few words, the name is Desmond Ufuoma Okosi aka tallestman, an infopreneur/eCover designer/online payment expert, who hails from Delta State. Still in my early twenties, and have helped hundreds of Nigerians in providing valuable information that has changed their lives in one way or another.

MMON: Tallestman…lol. I’ll say tallest infoprenuer.

MMON: When did you start Making Money Online and how did you make your first money online?

Desmond: Despite the fact that I had been an ardent student of the internet since 2005, I started making money online in 2008. My first earning online was $27 commission from a very hot clickbank product then, promoting it through the power of forum marketing. I was so excited that I nearly broke the screen of the computer I used in the cybercafe back then.

MMON: That’s how we feel for our first ever break online. It always seem like a miracle.

MMON: When starting your site, did you ever expect it to grow to where it is today?

Desmond: Yes I did! But I never expected it to grow this fast. Maybe I was too aggressive, that’s why …… (chuckles)

MMON: You’ve been in the internet space for a long time, how much of an impact have you made?

Desmond: Well, I have made reasonable impact despite the fact that I choose to be an underground worker. I have given so many valuable information to a number of my subscribers, who in turn, use this for themselves and actually become successful.

Also, I always make sure that I don’t give outdated information. You can do a search on several forums like, and just to mention a few sites where I shared these.

In addition, i launched my dedicated virtual credit cards services in January this year, Nigeria Virtual Credit Cards @ and within a short period of time, it has helped a lot of Nigerians in solving their online payment issues and it is ready to help more in the nearest future.

MMON: Good. I like Nigerians who are creative in solving people’s problem.

MMON: How have you incorporated social media into your site?

Desmond: Facebook is my number one medium, followed by Twitter. I have my own personal fan page, whereby I share some of my favorites link and updates.

I have configured it in a way that, once I update my blog, it automatically displays, not only on my facebook profile, but it shows on my fanpage and twits without any further logins to my facebook or twitter accounts.

MMON: In your opinion, what is the single best way to monetize a blog/website/membership site/forum etc?

Desmond: There is no best way to monetize a blog, website, or forums. It totally depends of the niche of the website and what works best for the individual. I know some marketers out there will go for Google AdSense but that is not true.

For example, a ‘job vacancy’ niche blog/webiste works very well with Google Adsense but promoting an info product on “how to get a job” on such sites will fair badly. But a forex niche based blog website that promotes an automatic forex software will turn out more profitable than Google Adsense program.

So rather than search out the best way, I strongly recommend that one looks for multiple streams of monetizing his/her blog or website as the case maybe.

MMON: Exactly, multiple streams of internet income. That is what we preach on Make Money Onlilne Nigeria.

MMON: What would you recommend for a new blogger, that wants to create their own brand/presence on the internet?

Desmond: For the new bloggers out there, the reason and secret that got me to the stage I am today, can be summed up in three words; I TOOK ACTION. I did not read any information I came across and failed to apply them as soon as possible. Don’t wait for the right time to start because it will never come. START DOING IT RIGHT NOW.

And if it does not work out the way you planned, DON’T STOP THERE. CONTINUE TRYING. STICK TO IT. DON’T JUMP FROM ONE PROGRAM TO ANOTHER. STAY FOCUSED and BE DETERMINED to conquer the challenges. READ MOTIVATIONAL STORIES to ginger your spirit.

Do all of these incessantly and I assure you that SUCCESS WILL COME KNOCKING ON YOUR DOOR, SOONER THAN YOU THINK.

MMON: Any recommended resources for people looking to bring their online business to the next level?

Desmond: Big Ol’ G or Big Brother G aka Google. That has be my number one library for information and it will always be. Just search for any ‘how to’ info that you might need through Google and it will give you on a platter of gold

MMON: Google na baba o.

MMON: What kind of tools do you think you would need to make your online business better?

Desmond: As for me, I have all the necessary tools needed to make my online business better. But for the sake of those who are upcoming, let me share them. Once you have the basics tools and skills, you have to position yourself in order to take your online business into the next level. Some of the tools you are going to need are Camtasia 7, used for creating videos or video tutorials. Also, you can have a social membership site like facebook created with SSG (social site generator).

They are so many of them but it depends on the niche of your choice.

Above all, one should outsource a hardworking team who can write articles, create more websites, promote your services.

MMON: Do you have any big announcements or upcoming projects you’d like to tell us about?

Desmond: I have some up my sleeves. I am currently working on re-launching myself into the world of information marketing once more, take the hand of some serious minded Nigerians who are willing to change their own financial status and turn them into money making experts like me.

After with I will be setting up a dedicated website, whereby Nigerians can design professional eCovers for their products or their clients, by themselves without the use of Photoshop or any complicated graphics software out there.
